 Salter Path, NC

Located on the narrowest part of the island, Salter Path was settled by squatters in the late 1800's.  The decline in whaling and fishing brought settlers from Cape Lookout.  Rich in history - it is rumored that that Blackbeard spent time in Salter Path - this area has been come a vacation favorite for many families.  Indian Beach, NC is the neighbor to the west of Salter Path and was incorporated in 1973.
